All Community Wildfire Protection Plans are consistent with the Healthy Forest Restoration Act and are based on the besed available data, fire behavior modelling, and cost-effective treatments.  Selected projects are identified below:
  • Community Wildfire Protection Plan for Western Placer County (Placer County Office of Emergency Services, Auburn, CA);
  • Community Wildfire Protection Plan for the California portion of the Lake Tahoe Basin(Nevada Fire Safe Council,Carson City, NV) ;
  • Community Wildfire Protection Plan for eastern Tulare County (Tulare County RCD, Visalia, CA)
  • First, by combining spatial data of ignitions and fuels hazards they create a new map layer, termed fire susceptibility.  The fire susceptibility map ranks areas with the highest hazards and most ignitions and all other combinations down to areas with the lowest hazards and fewest ignitions. Second, they use dwelling densities to identify the wildland urban interface.  By integrating this information they are able to assist fire agencies identify the strategic location and objectively prioritize projects.
